I’ve been wanting to dine in this “hidden gem” in Karama ever since I read about it on blogs and it’s awesome reviews on Zomato. Highly commended Southeast Asian restaurant by TimeOut Dubai in 2011, Betawi is totally worth a visit. Two weeks ago albeit unplanned, I decided to find out what the hype was all about and check out this tiny and humble food place that serves authentic Indonesian staples.

Being foodies (yes, we consider ourselves legit foodies. haha!), last night we tried some of what Nay Cafe and Lounge has to offer. Having no idea where to take our snack slash dinner, we passed by and entered this very spacious and laid-back cafe expecting nothing but to satisfy our hungry tummies. We sampled some of their best sellers and they sure did not disappoint.

With the tagline “India’s Favorite Grill Restaurant”, Absolute Barbecues or AB’s opened its second branch in Dubai around May this year. They opened their first branch along Sheikh Zayed Road in Media City in 2015. This branch, located in Deira (just opposite Deira City Center) has 120 seating capacity, each table equipped with live grille for an absolute grill dining experience.

Iftar is the meal taken by our Muslim brothers and sisters when they end their daily 15-hour fasting. They break their fast at sunset, right after Maghrib or evening prayer. It is one of the religious observances of Ramadan and is done as a community.
